Scratchbuilt

Rancoutt’s Cider factory is modelled in half relief. Scratch built entirely in card and Scalescenes papers and is based on pictures of sites in and around Hereford in the first half of the 20th century. The Cider Factory site has a number of structures. The original Cider house, is a stone building that now houses the works offices on the upper floor and the cooper’s workshop on the ground floor. The next structure is a timber built open sided, fruit store for the apples and pears delivered from the local orchards before processing. In the corner of the site is the large chimney and boiler house which is attached to the main brick built building. In the centre of the site is the timber covered loading dock where barrels and cases of bottles are dispatched by rail.
