This attractive little loco has had many modifications to backdate it from the 14xx version supplied by Dapol into the earlier 48xx series. Firstly, the top feed was removed from the boiler, then using detailed parts from 'Mainly Trains' the chimney and smokebox door have been changed. Vacuum pipes, autogear and lamp brackets have been added.

 

Other added detail includes;

• Etched number plates from Martin Finney

• Lamps and fire irons from Springside

• Cab windows flush glazed

• Real coal in bunker

• Open roof ventilator

• Crew

• Resprayed

 

The original driving wheels with traction tyres were removed and replaced with ordinary driving wheels from a spare chassis.

 

Fitted with DG auto couplings.

 

Weathered with acrylic paints and powders using an airbrush and brushes and a mix of my own and Tim Shackleton's techniques as described in the Right Track series of DVD's
